Preoperative Consultations
Initial appointments at Beaufort Oral Surgery are a preoperative evaluation and consultation. At this appointment, we will explain the diagnosis, discuss the required treatments, discuss any treatment options, and answer any related questions you may have. A detailed health history will be reviewed and any medical conditions will be fully discussed. After a thorough history and examination, the anesthetic technique will be tailored for each individual patient to provide the most comfortable and safest method to complete your procedure. At the conclusion of the consultation appointment, all financial obligations, including insurance, will be discussed and a surgery date will be given along with all the preoperative instructions.
On very select cases and occasions, the surgery may be performed on the same day as the consultation. This will depend on time availability and preoperative readiness.
***All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.
***Please bring the following information to your consultation appointment:
- Surgical referral slip, if applicable
- Xrays, if applicable
- List of your current medications
- Medical and dental insurance information
***A preoperative consultation is mandatory for all patients undergoing Intravenous (IV) Sedation.
